FPE Automation Wins Distributor of the Month Award from MAC Valves

FPE Automation is Distributor of the Month for June 2020

FPE Automation is awarded for their work in a food processing plant, implementing MAC's MIO67 Fieldbus technology to replace valves that were consistently failing.

FPE Automation’s Steve Moore beat out tough competition to install large process valves at a food processing plant. The previously installed valves from a different manufacturer were failing at an increasing rate with the customer wanting to replace them with an updated solution. They were looking to upgrade their control system to communicate with the valves via Ethernet IP.

Steve and MAC Boss Specialist, Scott Massie, presented MAC’s MIO67 technology to the maintenance and engineering teams who bought a small stack to familiarize themselves with.

FPE Automation’s Controls Group (Jomy Vadakumpadam) provided programming and other technical support.

Their team effort paid off. The food processor reports that the valves are functioning perfectly and valve failures are no longer a constant headache.

Congratulations to Steve Moore, Scott Massie and Jomy Vadakumpadam!

MAC Valves Introduces the PV12 Pulse Valve

Introducing the new PV12 Pulse Valve by MAC Valves

The family of MAC Pulse Valves has been a game-changer in the world of dust collection. The PV series patented design valve works better, is more efficient, fails less often  saves energy costs and produces a quick ROI.

• Vertical oriented bonded spool for superior reliability and low leakage
• 93 Series Pilot for consistent and high speed shifting of main valve
• Internal and external pilot configurations for use in high and low pressure applications
• Valve base accommodates 180˚ and 90˚ degree inlet/outlet orientations in 2-1/2” and 3” pipe sizes
• 175Cv

Drop-in Solution

Building on the success of the MAC Pulse Valve Series, the PV12 combines high flow and best in class performance with a form factor that is equally suited to retrofit and new machine builds. The base can accommodate inline and right angle plumbing, while the valve itself is adapter friendly.
Performance and Value

MAC Pulse Valves are known to deliver higher and more consistent pulse magnitude as compared with diaphragm valve technology. This performance, combined with the longer life and low leak characteristics of a bonded spool pulse valve, translate to lower total cost of ownership.

Available at FPE Automation.

Need a dust collection assessment? Is the PV12 or a different MAC Pulse Valve right for you? Contact our specialists for a consultation.

FPE Automation's Art Gesell Wins PHD Inc. Distributor of the Month Award

Art Gesell/FPE Automation is the winner of the PHD Inc. Distributor of the Month Award for June 2020

John Ross, Vice President of North America Sales for PHD Inc. announced today that Art Gesell is the recipient of their top award for June 2020. Here is what he had to say*:

Art worked with an aerosol can producer to replace non-U.S.-made cylinders on a machine. In seeing the application firsthand and understanding that the old standard piston rod was too soft for the application, Art was able to offer that observation to the PHD Unique Solutions team. Through discussions with the customer’s industrial engineer and PHD's Unique Solutions group, Art was able to offer the customer a drop-in replacement with improved strength rod material, which was failing on the old cylinder. Delivery was also an issue previously. PHD delivered a solution in only three weeks.

PHD excels at providing productivity improvement solutions. It's possible we can offer you more than a lower cost drop-in replacement. Please reach out to FPE Automation if you'd like to take the next step.

FPE Automation's Steve Moore also receives recognition in June

Congratulations also go to Steve Moore, who made the PHD Top Performers list for his work in the medical field.

Universal Robots Announces ActiNav Autonomous Bin Picking Solution

Introducing ActiNav Autonomous Bin Picking by Universal Robots

ActiNav combines UR's market leading collaborative robots, a 3D sensor and autonomous robot motion control to solve unstructured bin picking and accurate placement for machine tending.

The ActiNav Autonomous Motion Module (AMM) synchronously handles vision processing, collision-free motion planning, and autonomous real-time robot control.
ActiNav Autonomous Motion enables:
  • Higher machine uptime with collision-free motion: Autonomous collision-free motion within its environment means fewer operator interventions and system restarts. The system takes care of the motion autonomously.
  • Less refilling with deep bins: Autonomous motion enables ActiNav to operate inside deep bins which hold more parts. That means systems can run unattended longer and require less filling. When the bin gets low on parts, it notifies workers by an alert light that it’s ready for more parts.
  • Accurate part placement: Machine tending requires parts to be accurately placed and oriented in the same way each time. The high-resolution sensor and CAD matching enable high accuracy picks. And the Autonomous Motion Module selects a robot pose that ensures the part is placed in the same way into a fixture each time. This is not pick and drop, this is accurate pick and part oriented placement.

The spacious facility features several full robot training stations in a large training room, where hands-on training will take place. Each station has a collaborative robot arm and vision. The facility also has a separate, high-tech lab which includes robots and 3D vision. It is among of the first of its kind in the world.

The Mayor of Sunset Hills, Pat Fribis, along with several Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development professionals and FPE Automation loyal customers were in attendance. Pictured left, FPE Automation's Kurt Vaeth teaches Mayor Pat how to program a Universal Robot Collaborative Robot Arm.

Guests toured the newly-opened facility and saw vision systems, autonomous mobile robots and quite a bit of other cutting edge factory automation technology on display.

Introducing the MiR250 from Mobile Industrial Robots

The most agile AMR yet. From Mobile Industrial Robots.

New product announcement:

This month, Mobile Industrial Robots unveiled its newest robot, the MiR250.

The MiR250 has a footprint of 580 x 800 mm (approx. 23 x 31.5 inches) and a height of only 30 centimeters (less than 12 inches).

It's compact, but powerful.  The MiR250 can move as much as 250 kg (over 500 lbs.) with a speed of 2 meters/second, or 6.56 feet/second. This makes this AMR more agile than any other on the market and highly adaptable for challenging environments.

Thanks to the small footprint, it can drive through spaces as narrow as 80 centimeters/3.15 inches. So, doors and elevators that can be an obstacle for other mobile robots, are not a problem for the MiR250.

The MiR250 is constructed for long lifetime, easy serviceability and work 24/7 with the option for fast battery swap. It has been designed according to current applicable safety standards.
